Are you interested in contributing to the development of Earth Observation based solutions for monitoring and better managing land resources?
The Company

SIRS, part of CLS group, subsidiary of the French Space Agency (CNES), is one of the leading European Earth Observation service providers with a strong involvement in the Copernicus programme and a very active role in the promotion of innovative solutions to support international development agencies as part of the European Space Agency and European H2020 programmes.

SIRS wish to recruit up to three Remote Sensing Applications Specialists to reinforce its team to accompany the development of new applications and services linked to the exploitation of Sentinel data for land resource monitoring.

The Position
As part of the development of our activities in land cover mapping as part of the European Copernicus Programme and other international activities, you will be contributing to developing, improving and implementing automated process chains to cover large areas.
You will also contribute to our continuous monitoring of technological developments by reviewing scientific literature and active participation to conferences/meetings. You will also be involved in writing scientific/technical reports and publications. Ideally your profile should match the following criteria:
-    At least Master M2 level with first successful professional experience in a similar position or young PhD with specialisation in remote sensing and optical and/or radar image processing,
-    You master a range of image processing techniques including segmentation morphological and time series analysis   , and at least one or more of the following technologies: object-oriented classification, extraction of biophysical variables, interferometry ...,
-    You master Python and one or several programming language(s),
-    You master at least one GIS software and one image processing software,
-    You have knowledge in one or more of the following application themes: land cover changes, forestry, risk management, urban planning, biodiversity,
-    Excellent knowledge of English and French, spoken and written, is essential with the knowledge of an additional language such as Spanish desirable
-    Good organisational and presentation skills, rigorous, autonomous and good writing skills are also required

The Location
This full-time position is located at SIRS’s premises in Villeneuve d’Ascq near Lille in northern France at the heart of Europe (Brussels 35’, Paris 1h and London 1h20’) in the stunning and dynamic (third largest student population of France) city of Lille.
Business trips in Europe and internationally are also possible depending on the projects.
