HOLLOW True Type Fonts

Several requests for "transparent" fonts have reached the mapinfo-l list over the last few years. The main reason given for using this type of font is to lighten up maps with large titles. There are several hollow fonts commercial or not. The free, shareware ... fonts are generally less refined, less complete, more buggy than the commercial ones but they are free and can often do the job very well mainly as far as titles are concerned (I would not recommand most of them for text production!)

The samples of Hollow, Inline, Outline....True Type Fonts you can reach from this page are intended to help you in making a decision on which font to use if any. Among those that I have seen,  I have selected only those that I felt could find a place in a map (my personal choice, I agree. I have used a background map to show the resulting effects, particularly concerning readibility and transparency. If you see practical ways to improve on this setup, I would please to learn about it.

The images are saved layout windows with a one-commercial-page size. Point sizes are those used in such layouts . 24 point texts are usually "normal", in some cases "bold" if the text does not show up well enough.

There are those free, or at least freely distributed for which a zip file is available for you to download directly, and some $$$ or restricted ones given as examples to entice interested people to get them if they find them valuable.
