The MB_Resource CenterHow to use this site.
Navigating through this site should not offer any difficulty. There are several navigating tools, some are available at the same time in the window, and all should be quite explicit.
The main reason for this site is for users to be able to locate code, instructions or documentation that
interest them and to access them in a convenient format.
Some pages and downloadable files may be stored on the author own site. Pages on such
"associated sites" are identified by the icon, while those stored on the MB_Resource center are indicated by . Code listings are accessible in two ways:
-- if displayed in a page, it can be copied directly and pasted in the user's applicaation. This is probably the most efficient way if what is required is rather short.
Sometimes, the code itself is quite long and is displayed in a separate window open on request only from the regular template. That does not affect the copy/paste potential.
WARNING
Before using this copy/paste technique, make sure that you are not carrying with the copy formatting information that would require you to clean up your pasted code.
One contributor experimenting with Opera noticed that when one copies and pastes a block of text from Opera into the MapBasic window, Opera (occasionally?) defines spaces as /xa0, thus causing a (seemingly) spurious error on compilation. Users of Opera may have to do a mass replace of /xa0 with a space before trying to use copied text in the MapBasic editor.
-- an archive file is a more compact and definitive way of transfering the information. But to limit the number of such files, particularly with relatively short code listings, several items may be regouped in one zip file.
