Une plate forme de cartographie aérienne "low cost" ?
Quand EasyJet décide d'équiper de développer pour ses appareil des détecteurs de cendre en partenariat avec Airbus , d'autres pensent à l'intérêt de cette technologie... Et pourquoi ne pas utiliser ces données pour cartographier avec précision les nuages de cendres et autres particules ?
Low-cost British airline easyJet PLC unveiled plans Friday to test the ability of infrared technology to detect volcanic ash clouds and urged other airlines to help map the ash risk across Europe's skies. The company said the devices — which are placed on an aircraft's tail fin and can detect ash clouds within 100 kilometres — are the first of their kind and are "essentially a weather radar for ash."

There are advantages to having a vast work of airplanes in the air. They can take readings around the clock, at different altitudes and could actually serve as the primary source for air quality data of all kinds. And, who would have through they could actually be providing airborne sensing data useful to carbon and greenhouse gases and other particles.
