[CDD] GIS & Remote Sensing Engineer(M/F) - Strasbourg (67)

SERTIT a platform of the ICube laboratory, within the University of Strasbourg, aims to extract and to format information from image data produced by Earth Observation systems. SERTIT is an intermediary between space research, digital technologies and operational user needs. SERTIT uses space-borne Earth Observation data transforming them into geo-information, easy-to-use in decision support systems.  Within the perspective: Space serving the Earth, the foundation of our service offer, we take care in continuously accounting for user wishes and needs, the growing potential offered by space technologies and the latest developments in terms of remote sensing research.
We are looking for an engineer capable of specializing in 3D applications involving particularly radar but also optical remote sensing. This person is not necessarily a topographic engineer but could also be a signal/image processing engineer.

The role:
- Being involved in Earth Observation projects focused on risk management at a national or international scale. Developing our 3D applications portfolio
- Being an active member of SERTIT’s Rapid  Mapping Service, involved in the map production within the framework of several international satellite-based emergency response mechanisms (training provided). This is a 24/7 service and involves on-call duty and sometimes working nights and weekends
- Participate in answering ITT’s
- Providing support in the development of image processing chains
- Find interesting topics to explore in relation to the domain to improve ICube-SERTIT’s service offer and one’s own skills

Your profile should include:
- A Master's Degree or engineering equivalent in a relevant discipline such as topography/land surveying, signal/image processing, or related fields
- Good GIS knowledge with remote sensing a plus, processing optical/SAR imagery
- A good knowledge of at least 1 programming language such as Python or C++ applied to image processing, a plus
- Excellent  command  of French (oral  and  written) which  is  our  working  language, with  good English a must
- Very good communication skills
- Can do attitude, Self-starter,  works on own initiative, with effective communication to team and supervisor-Ability to perform on-duty assignments
- Ability to travel, mainly within Europe

A prior professional experience is not required but is of interest.
