Objet : Opening of Call for expression of interest for Spatial Data Interest Communities (SDICs)
Dear COGI members and participants in the GIS Working Party meeting,
In our note from March 16, you've been informed on the opening of the call for expression of interest for Spatial Data Interest Communities (SDICs), in the framework of the preparation of draft Implementing Rules for the proposal for a Directive, establishing an infrastructure for spatial information in the Community (INSPIRE).
Further information and access to this call is available via following link:
http://www.ec-gis.org/inspire/
Although the call will remain open on a permanent basis for the registration of SDICs, Legally Mandated Organisations (LMOs), projects and other reference material, it was initially scheduled to compose the Drafting Teams based on the experts that were to be proposed until 15 April 2005.
However, a number of stakeholders have been asking to extend this rather sharp deadline, since in some cases it proves to be difficult to get the internal communication and feedback organised in due time. Moreover the Easter holiday interfered with this period, and finally some difficulties were experienced with the accessibility of the on-line application form. These reasons made us decide to extend the deadline with 2 weeks to the 29th of April.
In order to further facilitate internal communication within the SDICs and LMOs, it has also been decided to put a word version of the application form downloadable from the application webpage. Whilst this may help accelerate the collection of information within a community, we must remind you that the actual registration should still be performed through the online application on the INSPIRE site.
Regards,
Hans Dufourmont
