Internship Engineer in Modeling and Analysis of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure

Call for Applications for an International Mobility SFRI Scholarship:
This call for applications concerns the allocation of an international mobility SFRI scholarship of 7,500 euros, intended for students coming to France for an internship in a laboratory at the Master2 or Engineering level (TN10). The internship is only open to students enrolled at a university outside of France. The internship will only take place if the SFRI scholarship is awarded.

Job Description:
As part of the transition to electric vehicles, identifying strategic locations for the installation of charging stations and optimizing their number are major challenges for cities. This internship focuses on the development of an innovative method to:

Identify the best locations for the installation of electric vehicle charging stations, taking into account user behavior and existing infrastructure.
Estimate the optimal number of charging stations needed to meet demand while minimizing costs.
Assess the impact of these stations on the electrical grid by modeling energy consumption and anticipating future needs.
Develop a GIS tool (model-builder or plugin) for identifying the best locations for charging stations.
You will be responsible for developing models and analyzing spatial data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), while collaborating with the research team.

Profile Sought:
We are looking for a student in the final stages of their engineering or master's degree in one of the following fields:

Urban Planning, Geography, or Electrical Engineering, with in-depth knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Skills in spatial modeling and/or electrical network analysis.
Proficiency in GIS tools (QGIS, ArcGIS) and data processing tools (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
Interest in themes related to sustainable mobility and electrification of urban infrastructures.
Ability to work independently with a rigorous analytical mindset.
Funding:
The internship will be funded by an international mobility SFRI scholarship of 7,500 euros, covering the costs related to the intern's stay in France. The internship will only take place if the student is selected for the SFRI scholarship.

Duration: 6 months
Start: early 2025
Location: Avenues Laboratory, University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC)
