[CDD] Ingenieur en Hydraulique - Strasbourg (67)

SERTIT, an ICube Laboratory University of Strasbourg platform, aims to extract and format information from  image  data  produced  by  Earth  Observation  systems.  It  is  at  the  crossroads  between  remote sensing applied research, digital technologies, operational services, and user needs.   
SERTIT transforms space-borne Earth Observation data into geo-information, which can easily be used in decision-support systems. From the perspective of space serving the Earth, the foundation of our service offer is that we continuously account for user wishes and needs, the growing potential offered by space technologies, and the latest developments in remote sensing applied research. 

The role:   
- Development  and  optimization  of  flood  modeling  from  practical  0D  solutions  to  scientific algorithms, 
- Focal  point  for  understanding  SERTIT’s hydrological/hydraulic  needs  and  their  insertion  into R&D and service evolution projects,
- Take a leading role in the operational production of flood modelling, 
- Being an active member of SERTIT’s Rapid Mapping Service, involved in the map production within the framework of several international satellite-based emergency response mechanisms (training provided). This is a 24/7 service and involves on-call duty and sometimes working nights and weekends

Must have technical skills: 
- Diploma: Engineering degree or Ph.D. in hydrology
- Expertise in hydraulic modeling
- Experience in hydrodynamics modelling tools like HEC-RAS
- Solid experience and willingness to program in Python or other scripting languages
- Can do attitude,  innovative, analytical, rigorous, ... at SERTIT, you do what is needed, and in collaboration with the team, you also have the freedom to create your own professional space
- Good level of technical English 
- Ability to perform on-duty assignments

Nice to have technical skills 
- Experience in satellite data processing
- Experience in GIS
- Experience in flood-related projects

A  prior  professional  experience  of  2  years  is  required.  Ph.D.  work  is  considered  as  a  professional experience.

Work conditions :   
- 12 months CDD, renewable 
- 37h30/week (full time)
