SERTIT, an ICube Laboratory University of Strasbourg platform, aims to extract and format information from  image  data  produced  by  Earth  Observation  systems.  It  is  at  the  crossroads  between  remote sensing applied research, digital technologies, operational services, and user needs.   
SERTIT transforms space-borne Earth Observation data into geo-information, which can easily be used in  decision-support  systems. From  the  perspective  of  space  serving the Earth, the  foundation of  our service offer is that we continuously account for user wishes and needs, the growing potential offered by space technologies, and the latest developments in remote sensing applied research.     

We are looking for a DevOps person to help SERTIT leverage, automate and accelerate development processes.

SERTIT's cloud infrastructure contains around thirty Debian machines on Openstack, administered with Ansible and Terraform. We do not administer Openstack itself. However, the activities of this position will not be limited to system administration, as it will also involve writing Dockerfile, managing GitLab CI/CD, writing Python and Bash scripts...

The role: 
- Take a leading role in automating the processes of development, testing, and releasing software, enabling the continuous delivery of software, 
- Closely collaborate with a team of geoscience and remote sensing engineers to define functional and technical aspects of the algorithm development, 
- Be an active member of SERTIT’s Rapid Mapping Service, involved  in the map production  within  the  framework  of  several  international  satellite-based  emergency response  mechanisms  (training  provided).  This  is  a  24/7  service  and  involves  on-call duty and sometimes working nights and weekends, 
- Development and optimization of scientific algorithms for the exploitation of satellite imagery.

Must have technical skills: 
- Diploma: Engineering degree in computer science or another STEM field
- Strong interest in Linux
- Programming in Python or other scripting languages
- Expertise in continuous integration, deployment, and delivery
- Experience in GitLab, GitHub or similar 
- Experience in deployment tools like Ansible, Terraform
- Experience in continuous integration tools like Docker, Vagrant, Kubernetes, or Helm
- Experience in infrastructure as a service platform like OpenStack or AWS
- Can do attitude, innovative, analytical, rigorous, ...
- Good level of technical English 
- Ability to perform on-duty assignments

Nice to have technical skills
- Experience  with  automated  analysis  of  satellite,  aerial,  or  multispectral  imagery  is  a plus 

A prior professional experience is not required, but a first experience including software development is a plus.
