Baccalauréat (B. Sc.) en géomatique appliquée à l'environnement (Sherbrooke - Qc - Canada)
Objectifs de la formation
À l’Université de Sherbrooke, on définit la géomatique comme étant la science au service de l’humain, ce qui explique sans doute son appartenance à la Faculté des lettres et sciences humaines. Cette science est un croisement entre la géographie et l’informatique dans le but de régler des problématiques environnementales. Ainsi, les étudiantes et étudiants en géomatique appliquée sont formés pour analyser ces problématiques et proposer des solutions concrètes aux gestionnaires et aux décideurs, dans le but de faciliter la prise de décision.
Le Département de géomatique appliquée compte parmi son corps professoral des spécialistes réputés internationalement dans des domaines d’application de la géomatique tels que la neige, la pollution atmosphérique, les cyanobactéries, les forêts, les habitats fauniques, le transport, le milieu urbain, etc.
Le programme met de l’avant une approche basée sur l’apprentissage par projet (APP), où les étudiantes et étudiants travaillent sur des projets réels, soumis par des entreprises et des organismes partenaires, ce qui leur donne la chance de mettre en pratique, tout au long de leurs études, les notions avec lesquelles ils travailleront tout au long de leur carrière. Ce programme est offert en régime coopératif (avec stages) ou régulier (sans stage). Les stages peuvent être réalisés au Québec ou à l'étranger et sont rémunérés.
