Raster
Le terme Raster ou Image Raster est employé pour définir le support informatique d'une image, sous forme de pixels. Il existe des quantités de formats raster, le plus simple est le format BMP, chaque pixel de l'image possède une adresse dans le fichier. Un tel fichier est très lourd et on a cherché des formats plus économiques. Citons le format TIF, généralement utilisé par les scanners. Ce format ne perd aucune information. Autre format près connu, le JPG ou JPEG, ce format est généralement utilisé en photographie numérique. Dans un contexte Géomatique, le format PNG (Graphic Réseau Portable) est courant. Le format DXF n'est pas un format raster.
