Call for Participation

We are pleased to invite you to attend and participate to the 2nd International Workshop on Mobile Geospatial Augmented Reality, which will be held in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, August 28-29, 2008. It follows the great success of the first edition that took place in Banff, AB, in 2006.

The second edition will be the opportunity to pursue the discussions and reflections initiated between the geospatial and augmented reality communities. This year, the workshop is organised jointly with the workshop of the GeoEduc3D research project funded by the GEOIDE Network of Centres of Excellence. GeoEduc3D deals with educative mobile games, augmented reality and geospatial technologies. Therefore, the mobile game community will also be targeted by the workshop.

Keynote speakers

3 keynote speakers will share their experiences, points of view and prospects in the domains of mobile geospatial augmented reality, location-based games and education.

1. Beyond Globes and Flat Screens: The Geospatial AR Dream (more details)
Tyler Mitchell, Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo)

2. Managing Player Realities - The Geocultural Dimensions of Game Content (more details)
    Tom Edwards, Englobe Inc.

3. Get Out and Play: Using AR Games and Sims to Take Learning to a New Place (more details)
Judy Perry, MIT Scheller Teacher Education Program
