Présentation
Le projet est simple. Dans le répertoire ILWIS/Resources/String sont présent une quarantaine de fichiers scripts (.ENG) qui contiennent les chaines de caractère du logiciel. Il suffit de traduire leur contenu et remplacer les fichiers sources pour traduire le logiciel.

Mode d'emploi
Ouvrir la page Wiki du fichier en édition. Après chaque symbole @, écrire votre traduction (ex : 1 “Open Object” @ “Ouvrir Objet”). Cette méthode permettra de visualiser les traduction déjà effectuées. Quand un fichier sera terminé, les mentions en anglais seront remplacées et le fichier mis à disposition.
Dans le cas ou un mot est constitué comme ceci : F&irst ou &Attribute, on peut placer le caractère au même endroit dans le mot traduit. Ce symbole près d'un mot indique un raccourci clavier (Alt+lettre qui suit le symbole) et qu'on retrouve dans tous les menus Windows sous forme d'un petit souligné sous une lettre du menu. C'est optionnel.
Quelques termes récurrents
- Maplist : Liste de Cartes
- MapView : Vue de Carte
- Raster Map : Carte raster
- Polygon Map : Carte de Polygone
- Segment Map : Carte de Polyligne
- Point Map : Carte de Point
- Directory : Répertoire
- Coordinate System : Système de Coordonnées
- DTM (Digital Terrain Model) : MNT (Modèle Numérique de Terrain)
- DEM (Digital Elevation Model) : MNE (Modèle d'Elevation Numerique). Ilwis semble ne pas distinguer de diférence entre les 2, on peut donc traduire par MNT par simplification.
Lexique conseillé
- Customize : plutôt Personnaliser qu'Adapter
- Éditeur plutôt que Gestionnaire : Éditeur parle d'éditer (même si je comprend le sens)
- Annotations plutôt que textes. Annotation est une catégorie particulière :
(An Annotation Text object, also called an annotation text layer, is designed to display
and store multiple texts (such as labels of points, segments or polygons) at multiple positions. Texts, such as for instance a title or some other textual information, can be added to a layout in the layout editor. )
- Sample Set = échantillon
- Segments = polylignes. Sauf exception
- Backup = sauvegarde de secours ; Restore = restaurer.
- Undo = Annuler
- Implemented : implémenté (installé, c'est ..installed)
- Clear : rafraîchir, c'est..refresh. Je préfère “effacer” (au sens ILWIS ou Clear et delete sont similaires)
- Clipboard = Presse-papier
- Pen : Trait c'est en fait stylo à la base mais ça se traduit par trait plutôt ;)
- snap : capture plutôt que magnétisme, même si le sens est compréhensible.
- font = police (de caractère)
- boundary : contour à mon avis (même si frontière est la trad mot à mot)
- Undefs, undefined : indéfinis
Quelques termes spéciaux
- %S : appelle une variable textuelle
- %i : appelle une variable entière
- /n : retour à la ligne dans les messages affichés. Note Robin : bizarrement certains slash “/” ont sauté à un moment donné lors de la copie sur le Wiki, du coup, on retrouve des n tout seuls parfois. C'est /n en fait, qui s'intègre dans une phrase sans espace nécessaire avant ou après. Vérifier dans le fichier original en cas de doute.
En cas de doute
Entrer le mot sur Wikipedia en anglais, consulter l'article le définissant ou un autre l'englobant, puis regarder dans la colonne de gauche en bas, si il y a une version francaise. Cela permet souvent d'obtenir la traduction correcte.
