Méridien de Greenwich ou de Paris ?
- Problème : quelle est la différence entre d'une part le “Système Français méridien de Greenwich MI ⇐ 3” et d'autre part “Système Français méridien de Paris” ?
- Solution : Cette 'vieille' projection “Système Français méridien de Greenwich MI ⇐ 3” figure toujours dans le mapinfow.prj des versions plus récentes de MI, qui peuvent ainsi la supporter. C'est une survivance mais en fait, cette projection aberrante avait été introduite par erreur!!! Un peu comme les projections IGN d'avant MI 7.8, qui sont toujours citées (pour la compatibilité), mais qui ont été remplacées à partir de MI 7.8 à cause d'une - très minime - erreur. Ici la différence est de 2,732°, écart du méridien de référence Greenwich à celui de Paris. Mais elle sont compatibles: on peut travailler avec les 2 en même temps ou reprojeter de l'une vers l'autre. Du moment que les définitions sont dans le mapinfow.prj…MI s'en débrouille. Pour 'communiquer' avec les autres logiciels, en revanche, il vaut mieux utiliser la seule projection conventionnelle: celle avec le méridien de Paris (méridien origine des projections Lambert Zone et Carto).
