Requête géographique / Jointure spatiale
La requête géographique fonctionne à partir de la même fenêtre que la requête attributaire complexe, c’est la requête SQL. Elle autorise aussi une sélection sur plusieurs couches et sur un ou plusieurs attributs de ces couches.

Les champs de jointure des couches, sont ici différents de la requête attributaire complexe, car ils se réalisent à partir des opérateurs géographiques suivants :
Contains : L'objet A contient l'objet B si le centroïde de B se trouve dans le polygone de A.
Contains entire : L'objet A contient entièrement l'objet B si le polygone de B est entièrement inclus dans le polygone de A.
Within : L'objet A est dans l'objet B si son centroïde est dans le polygone de B.
Entirely within : L'objet A est entièrement dans l'objet B si le polygone de A est entièrement dans le polygone de B.
Intersects : L'objet A rencontre l'objet B si ils ont au moins un point en commun.
Dans la fenêtre de critères, les objets (A ou B), sont appelés à partir de l’ascenseur Colonnes ‘nom de couche.obj’. Ce mot clé “obj” indique à MapInfo qu’il doit récupérer des valeurs basées sur des objets graphiques plutôt que des données sous forme de tableaux.
Exemple :
Sélectionner les éléments de la couche ‘riviere’, qui intersectent le département du Nord de la couche ‘departement’ :
Tables : rivieres, departement (riviere en premier, puisqu’elle contient les objets géographiques de la sélection)
Critères : rivieres.obj intersect departement.obj And departement.nom = “Nord”
Dans cet exemple, seul “Nord” est à saisir manuellement dans la case critères, tous les autres éléments sont disponibles à partir des ascenseurs.
