For several years, the subject “Prediction and analysis of superficial models with Geographical Information Systems” has been imparted in the PhD program of the Cartographic Engineering and GIS Department of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. The available software for the realization of geostatistical practices is abundant and varied, from commercial solutions to diverse projects of free software. In these years, the teaching has been carried out using a group of this available software and using some datasets of the bibliography. Likewise, projects of free software that cover great part of the subject content are appearing and that insofar as possible, it is interesting to use them by their availability to the students. In this work, the complete resolution of a geostatistical study of a very well known dataset is presented.
